Culture

The region provides 25 clubs, 27 libraries, children’s music school and its two subsidiaries /in the villages of Uborok and Byvalki/, museum in honour of the battle for the Dnepr, handicraft center in the Uborok rural palace of culture. Cultural establishments include 131 club associations, 33 amateur unions, 91 amateur art groups. The region’s five amateur art groups have the status of national.

Some 12,552 residents of the region frequent 27 libraries that are united into the central library system. Their major goals are patriotic education of young people, promotion of the Belarusian national literature, interest towards historical events of Belarus and ecological education.

The Loyev museum dedicated to the battle for the Dnepr provides exhibits illustrating the events of the Great Patriotic War, the partisan movement in the Loyev region in 1941-1943, forced crossing of the Dnepr and the autumn 1943 liberation of the region’s territory by troops of the Central Battle-Front commanded by General Konstantin Rokossovskiy.
